Razor sharp and intelligently written this classic remains highly watchable 45 years later—one of Polanski's best. A deceptively simply tale on the surface—a sailing trip gone awry—addresses much deeper issues of contemporary angst, jealousy, insecurity, virility, and even a bit of the old class struggle (apparently added to appease the communist authorities). Be sure to watch the interview with Polanski afterwards, it was quite illuminating.
