Wow, wow, wow. So detailed and so imaginative and so shiny! I love our lead heroine, who is a streetwise con artist/thief living in 18th century Cairo who conjures up herself a djinn of sorts and enters a whole new magical world. This world is rich in history, bloodshed, politics, controversy and it really throws Nahiri off. She's used to being able to manipulate and maneuver in the human world but the world of Daevabad is beyond her in so many ways.
I also love Nahiri's relationships with everyone. There are bright spots and dark spots with every relationship and I have my light and dark moments with her. I am more than on board for what happens next because that last bit was devastating.
