I think nowadays we call that intimidation, vandalism, bullying, sexual assault, and just regular assault, but ignore me! The premise is ridiculous --- that a magical detention day sorts out a bunch of broken teenagers (articulate, intelligent, and good-looking teenagers.... I surmise that the mean ugly morons at this school get detention on Sundays instead). The dialogue, script, and acting are indeed all good, as a first-time watcher I'd say the movie stands the test of time. It also passes the Bechdel test, and if these are not the feminism-approved strong independent women we're getting in movies now, I can assure you it's accurate enough for the time.
