I like her dry British commentary and the fact she doesn't go rambling on and on, but simply says what she wants to say and keeps on going. The book made me laugh, which is priceless in my estimation.

I found this book funny, witty and charming; but only kind of. I went in with high expectations and unfortunately they may have been too high. I think this book is overrated. I was really hoping for more detail and internal emotions about her rendezvous when she was 16 and 17, which is what the movie is about. There is only 1 chapter about this, and it is a brief one. I found myself losing interest many times. I feel like I needed to live in the UK to understand some of the wit in her narrative. It is an honest memoir of someone that I, frankly, do not care about—possibly because I’ve never heard of her.

First, I watched a movie titled "An Education" based on this book and I really didn't care for the movie. However, the fact that it was based on a memoir interested me. I have read the book and really, really liked it. The movie is based on only a small part of the memoir. I found the book well written and incredibly honest, sometimes even brutally honest. Highly recommended.
