This book is recommended to parents to read to their children. The book is about a small bear named Corduroy that lives in a toy store department that has loss a button. A small girl, Lisa, comes along and sees the bear, but she is unable to purchase Corduroy at the time. While gazing at Corduroy Lisa's mother points out that Corduroy has a missing button and the adventure begins from there. Corduroy goes on an adventure to find his button and he ends up in trouble with the department store security. Corduroy does not get his button and is taken back down stairs to where all the other toy animals are that night by security. The following the day when Corduroy awakens Lisa has come back to purchase him. Lisa takes Corduroy home and she sews a new button back on his corduroys for him.
The book is a great adventure book for children to follow along with while the bear gets into trouble. Children will enjoy this book because it teaches a moral lesson of friendship and determination. Corduroy is determined to find his button that he has lost. This is where the entire adventure lies for him. Lisa is determined to buy Corduroy even though her mother says she does not have enough money to purchase Corduroy for Lisa; Lisa is still determined to buy Corduroy. Lisa is successful in doing so because she goes home and counts the money in her piggy bank and comes back the next day to purchase Corduroy.

Until now I hadn't read Corduroy in years and I had forgotten how much I love it. Such a sweet story with beautiful illustrations. Children and adults alike will love it.

This was one of my favourite stories as a child. I love the message of how it is okay not to be perfect. I love that I can share that with my son. He enjoyed listening to this in the car while we are driving about. The story teller does a nice job of telling the story too.

This children's book is a classic and I really enjoyed reading it with the children at work. They seemed really interested in the story and I remember reading it as a child and enjoying it as well. Corduroy gets into some shenanigans at the department store trying to find his lost button, he eventually gets bought by a little girl and has his button repaired. Really fun read with nice illustrations.

(by Graham, age 6)
Corduroy gets a button sewn on. I like that because he didn't know that his button was lost on one of his straps. It made me feel happy that he found a friend and a home. That was a surprise. Kids who are 2 years old and up would like this story. This is a happy story. I am most like the girl who wants to buy stuff, because I like to buy stuff.

Awesome, Amazing, and a delight for kids. I enjoyed reading this book to my baby sister which is now 7 years old. Basically the book is about Corduroy that's trying to find his missing, and Laura purchases him then sews a new button on him. This book teaches a lot of lessons to anyone all you have to do is have determination anything is possible if you just believe it's possible like Corduroy the bear.

Corduroy lives in a department store with the other toys waiting to be bought. He seems to keep getting passed over because one of his buttons is missing and he does not look new. A little girl is adamant to wanting him, however her mother already spent too much money that day. He goes in search of his missing button and accidentally gets on the elevator to the next floor, and ends up in the furniture department. He finds a button on a mattress and tries to pull it off, but of course it is sewed down. He pulls harder and goes crashing into a lamp when the button comes free. A security guard hears the noise and comes to find Corduroy behind the mattress and takes him back downstairs to the toy department. The next morning the little girl returns with her allowance and buys Corduroy her self. She takes him home and repairs his button and they are now the best of friends. To be continued in Corduroy's pocket.
