Add a CommentIn this film, Eddie Murphy plays Prince Akeem who is a wealthy prince in the search of an American wife after barely escaping an arranged marriage. He gets a job in fast food and tries to blend in until he finds the one. To his demise, he has no idea how he is going to tell her the truth about who he really is. Although this late 80’s film was meant to come across as more of a romantic drama, it definitely read as a comedy with many cheap laughs and very raunchy jokes. However, the movie has still found a way to stick out in people’s minds and redeem itself for its many lacking qualities. I would rate this movie 3/5 stars and recommend it to those who like older comedy movies @The_Reviewer of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
The movie Coming to America starring Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall was an okay movie. It could be a little offensive at times, especially if you are of African descent like I am, also there was a lot of vulgar language and scenes throughout the film. I will admit the movie was quite hilarious once you overlooked all the flaws that I mentioned before and it was a lovely story about two people who love each other for richer or for poorer. I would recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of Eddie Murphy movies. I would give this movie 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Hilarious!
not a movie Id recomend to people. The only good thing I'll say about it is it IS better than Eddie Murphy's flic The Golden Child. Not by much, but it is better.
5 stars from start to finish! Very funny and memorable. Highly recommended!
The language is a bit raw (this is Eddie Murphy after all) yet overall this is a surprisingly sweet, romantic tribute to love between equals. Murphy's wealthy foreign prince rejects the perfect , (and perfectly servile) woman prepared for him, in favor of a sensible, hardworking daughter of the black American middle class.
