An interesting look into a young multiracial girl's exploration of what color best describes her. Though only a few people will relate to her specific struggle, it is a story with an important lesson on self-identification and finding peace with oneself. Considering the book's odd but charming art and the sensitivity of its subject matter, though, this definitely isn't for everyone.

I so wish this book had been written when my daughter was younger. She, like Simone, wanted to know what her color was. In her eyes, she wasn't Black like me or White like her father. This book would have been a great tool for us as her parents in helping her to explore her biracial identity.

This book is beautifully written and illustrated and gave me ALL of the feels <3
