I really enjoyed this mystery/comedy. Watching two strong female leads, Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, go head to head with each other was fantastic. I thought they were both outstanding. The movie is a mystery, with lots of twists and turns, but it is also a delightful dark twisted comedy. I loved everything about this movie. It is gorgeous to watch. The house where much of the movie is set is beautiful, and the costumes were wonderful. Were some of the twists a bit improbable? Sure, but the movie was so much fun I didn't care. Highly recommended.

I've liked Anna Kendrick in the "Pitch Perfect" films. It was very disappointing to see her in this for the ~20 minutes I could stomach. After I stopped I decided to see if the first portion was emblematic of the entire film. It appears so.

As one critic described it, "A Simple Favor" is "a tale that frontlines an alarming range of depravity – from alcohol and arson to adultery, heroin, murder, incest, betrayal and suicide." It's true people do depraved things to themselves and others but that's not especially funny and I don't see any reason to gratuitously flaunt that in an entertainment film. Movies like this lend credence to the notion of a "Hollywood cesspool".

It's very 'Hollywoody' and a bit of over-reach in acting...but it's really not a bad movie. The twists in plots is a bit surprising but became a little too obvious towards the end. Still, worth watching.

If you value your braincells and your time, avoid this piece of predictable rubbish at all costs. This is one of those Hollywood vehicles they produce so big names can get a big paychecks while they swindle the public out of their entertainment dollar. Warning!!! Avoid this mindless hunk of garbage, and find something to watch that has some soul, because this has none, zero, nada, zilch.

OH MY GOD!!! This movie was so good and kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end! I had no idea how it was going to end and loved every minute of it.

A different kind of mystery. First N.A. movie I've ever seen where an Asian is the lead male. It was novel to see an Asian dude making out with beautiful Hollywood women. But then Henry Golding is a tall handsome guy with a twist of British charm. (May Henry's real life marriage to Liv Lo survive celebrity-madness.) Script successfully added a twist to the typical mystery formula. The storyline wasn't completely believable though - no spoilers. Do people really live the lives that the 2 woman characters led? Definitely stretches different acting skills for Henry who is not a formally trained actor - good job. Worth a watch.

A clever whodunit with lots of twists.

Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively play nicely off each other in this interesting but not too deep film. Kendrick in her Hello Kitty socks and Lively in her expensive stillettos form an unlikely duo only because their kids want a play date. Cue the suspense music. A few twists and turns ensue with side characters thrown in just to keep it interesting, look for Linda Cardellini in a role that's a long way from Velma in the Scooby Doo movies. Light background music adds to the suspense with a few laughs thrown in. For a movie that I had never heard of and only borrowed due to seeing the trailer, I would highly recommend this.

kept my interest. But was not that great a movie. It seems many others think better of the movie than I do.

Emily, is missing right now. She asked me a simple favor, to pick up her son, Nicky, from school, which was five days ago.

My dad died when I was a senior in high school. And this boy showed up to the funeral. His name was Chris. And I guess he was the spitting image of my father, 30 years younger. My mom thought she saw a ghost. And it turned out
he was my half-brother.
-That's your whole secret? That your dad had an affair?
No!
-Okay, can you just tell me your secret? Come on, spill it, dark side.

Stephanie, go home. Emily had some Xanax in the medicine cabinet. Take one. Take two. Yeah. Maybe she has some heroin lying around. Hmm? This is all just grief. Just stages of grief.

That's Squaw Lake! The kids all joke that it's holy water. Any fish you pull out of there is guaranteed to feed a multitude.
