Prior to reading this book, I wasn't familiar with Lee Miller. She is a former model who struggles to be taken seriously as a photographer, and even her mentor/lover, Man Ray, discredits her work. The story jumps between Miller's time in Paris working with Ray and her time as a photojournalist during World War II. Unfortunately the two narratives don't come together that well. I would have enjoyed the book more if it had simply focused on Miller's Paris years. The pacing was a bit slow at times but the ending is satisfying.
