The Renegades Trilogy continues, in this fiercely awaited second installment after the New York Times- bestselling Renegades by Marissa Meyer, author of the Lunar Chronicles. Time is running out. Together, they can save the world. But they each other's worst nightmare. Nova's double life is about to get a lot more complicated: As Insomnia, she is a full-fledged member of the Renegades, a syndicate of powerful and beloved superheroes. She works with Adrian's patrol unit to protect the weak and maintain order in Gatlon City. As Nightmare, she is an Anarchist - a group of of villains who are determined to destroy the Renegades. Nova wants vengeance against the so-called heroes who once failed her when she needed them most. But as Nova, her feelings for Adrian are deepening, despite the fact that he is the son of her sworn enemies and, unbeknownst to Nova, he has some dangerous secrets of his own. In this second installment of the Renegades trilogy, Nova, Adrian, and the rest of their crew--Ruby, Oscar, and Danna--are faced with escalating crime in Gatlon City, while covert weapons and conflicting missions have Nova and Adrian questioning not only their beliefs about justice, but also the feelings they have for each other. The line between good and evil has been blurred, but what's clear to them both is that too much power could mean the end of their city--and the world--as they know it.

This awesome series continues as the stakes get higher. Meyer continues to blur the lines between Superhero and Villain. Tension rises to a spectacular ending creating such a mess for the characters you're unsure of how the series will come to a close.

I loved this book! I read over half of it the day I checked it out, and words just can’t describe how perfect it is!! Something happens, I’m like, “hm, I wonder if [this] will happen?” but then something even better happens and it’s just??? Awesome???? The ending literally gave me chills, I just!! Highly recommend this series, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the third book!

I absolutely loved this book! When I finished Renegades, I just HAD to get Archenemies, and the two are both equally thrilling. Throughout the books there are mysteries, and after reading both books the fun of it is to be the detective and solve all of them! I now have about 15 conspiracy theories about Captain Chronium that I need to prove on November 5th. I am extremely anticipating the third book, especially after the horrifying cliff-hanger. Seriously when I finished this book I wanted to scream hysterically ( but I was in school so I couldn’t) and the part at the end when SPOILER ALERT Max gets hurt has left me on the EDGE OF MY SEAT for eight months. And not to spoil the book (and I’m probably wrong about this anyway) I have very good reason to believe that Captain Chronium is Max’s real dad, and Phobia, and Lady Indomitable’s killer and maybe the one who set up Nova’s family’s murders. If I’m right, Captain Chronium will probably try to kill Nova or at least Adrian and also make Max into a living weapon. That’s only ONE of the conspiracy theories I’ve come up with after fine tooth combing through Renegades and Archenemies. Highly recommended.

I loved this book! It was very interesting and exciting. I loved the Nova and Adrian romance and Oscar and Ruby, they are both very cute. What was really refreshing was to read the book from the "villain's" point of view. I also like how the story makes a point that those who seem to be good and that the vast majority agree with and follow, alter things (The Sentinel, who is good or not) and think that if one is not a Renegade and is doing things such as catching criminals they are evil. Overall, this is a very unique and AMAZING book!!! Can't wait to read Supernova (greatcover btw).

While some scenes were rather slow and tedious, this book functioned well as a bridge, and I can't wait to read the next one.

With the first book setting expectations so high, I'm ecstatic that the second didn't disappoint! From start to finish, the plot raced alongside the protagonists in their fight to establish justice in the world. With a new strategy to be launched at the Anarchists, Nova seeks a way to counter it while remaining hidden in the scenes. Adrian himself questions all he knows about what is right, and what is enforced. Can they find themselves in the process? 5/5 Stars. @Siri of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

This book has improved from the first book, but not so much that I'm super invested in the series, but enough to keep reading. I'll repeat what I said from book one - I was expecting more from an author who had already written such a successful series and novel. For me, this book as well as the first book are easily explained and summarized in a few sentences. The story and setting and background for the city, powers, and characters have so much potential to bring many good elements in the story, but it did not play out in a way that i enjoyed. I really do hope to see the best from Ms. Meyer in the last book.
