What's a super-introverted closeted gay boy to do with a crush? Try to be friends instead, of course.

This story is sweet and bubbly, and a reasonably realistic representation of life as a gay student in the closet. It's not a strong romance -- there isn't quite a happily-ever-after -- but it's a great slice-of-life story that has a gay crush as the driving force behind the activities depicted.

The art is charmingly old-school in design but still pretty fluid and expressive. I wasn't sure about it at first, but it really grew on me by the end of the book. I wish this was a full series instead of a one-shot volume, but I'm happy I at least got to read this much.

Pairs well with That Blue Sky Feeling (for the straight-friend perspective) and My Brother's Husband (for further context of overall societal treatment of gay men in Japan) as other gay-but-not-yaoi books.
