What a fast paced book with constant action. There was a lot of underlying insights in the novel including how pivotal events in childhood have an effect on people as grownups and how people change over time in life and relationships. There was an interesting twist near the end on the murders, which was a little bit predictable.

RATINGS: 3 STARS

(Review Not on Blog)

This novel was just okay for me. Even with the controversial subject matter (think: Lolita) I didn't find it that interesting. I enjoyed Swanson's last book so was interested in trying this one. I did really like the cover.

I returned it without completing it so my rating is based on about 70 pages. Seemed seedy and unpleasant and had no interest in any where it would take me...

This book was difficult to finish. The only likeable character is Harry. I read until the end to see what happened but it was tough. I loved The Kind Worth Killing but I can’t really recommend this Peter Swanson novel.

The books is indeed filled with lies -- the lies we tell ourselves to push the reset switch and the lies we tell others. Oh what a tangled web we weave. . . Told from multiple POVs it is difficult to find a character besides young Harry to root for and even he seems to be stuck in one rut after another. In the end there seems to be a poetic justice that prevails despite the attempts to flee from past sins.
