No one takes Spencer Zumbro seriously when he tried to warn his classmates about the mysterious things prowling the halls and classrooms of Welcher Elementary School. But when he sees Marv, the janitor, going after one of the creatures with a vacuum, he knows he's not the only one who can see them. With the help of his new friends, Daisy, Spencer has to find out what the janitors know. The children's search uncovers the magic taking place behind the scenes of their seemingly ordinary school, where a battle is being waged for the minds of the students. Who can be trusted-- and can Spencer and Daisy protect their school and possibly the world? -- Publisher description.

This is a must read for anyone who has a big imagination and wonders what janitors see that we dont. A magical adventure that is lots of fun for all ages

My 10 year old son really enjoyed this book. The first couple chapters are a bit slow (giving background info about the characters), but the book picks up quickly after that. The action and mystery are pretty steady throughout the remainder of the book, and that's what kept my son engaged.

I was so impressed with the author's biography; I wanted the story to live up to great expectations. I found the weapons that Spencer, Daisy, the janitors, and their enemies used to be corny. The storyline of witches protecting the school system back in colonial days from mystical, brain sucking creatures and janitors to protect the students from becoming moronic pupils was too far fetched. The shining light in this story occurs when Daisy astutely suggests Spencer enlists the support of his mother. I loved her response and actions to the craziness her son was living through at the hands of mysterious adults.
