In a remote mountain tribe, the young hunter D'Leh finds his heart's passion in the beautiful Evolet. But when a band of mysterious warlords raid their village and kidnaps Evolet, D'Leh leads a small group of hunters to save her. As they venture into unknown lands for the first time, the group discovers there are civilizations beyond their own and that mankind's reach is far greater than they ever knew. At each encounter the group is joined by other tribes who have been attacked by the slave raiders. Soon the small band has turned into army. At a massive temple, the band will take their stand against a tyrannical god who has brutally enslaved their own. It is here that D'Leh finally comes to understand that he has been called to save not only Evolet but all of civilization.

We almost turned it off during the first 30 minuets but hung in with it. It was just a movie that provided some entertainment. The ending helped make it a decent movie but I have no idea how anyone could give it more than a 3 star. Defiantly not that caliber of a movie, but I think a lot of people over rate movies. To rank a 4 or 5 needs to be outstanding. I always have a hard time when the male characters in these movies run around without a shirts on with snow on the ground. Or how anyone can cross a desert without water?

If you're a fan of Conan the Barbarian, you'll probably enjoy this movie. It's much better than the actual Conan movies.

This is a 2008 American epic fantasy adventure directed by Roland Emmerich.
Set in the prehistoric era, a tribe of hunter-gatherers called the Yagahl live in a remote mountain range in the Urals and survive by killing woolly mammoths, which they call "mannaks".
D'Leh, a young hunter, has a companion named Evolet, an orphan who was found by the tribe.
Basically, it is a love story about D'Leah and Evolet.
Although it is archaeologically inaccurate and contains many factual errors and anachronisms, the film appears visually impressive and entertaining with sophisticated computer graphics.

10,000 BC mainly relies on CGI to achieve it's objectives. The storyline wasn't all that bad, however I felt throughout the movie that the previews for the film had built a very large hole for it to fill. In this way, the film failed to live up to my expectations, although the "epic conclusion" was surprising and entertaining, if not what I had been expecting. In general, it seems that the previews did a good job of making the film seem less generic. The main letdown of the film for me was the relatively narrow scope of locations.

Fairly enjoyable film. Similar idea to Apocalypto but not quite as good. Decent special effects but lacking a good plot.

To me, this was a very good action movie, and I quite enjoyed it.

I thought this film rose well above the current crop of computer-gamelike epics through its interesting assemblage of historical references, occasional courage to abandon cliches for the unexpected, & overall grandeur of tone & concept. Aesthetically, because of these qualities, it bears more of a welcome resemblance to a large-screen fairy tale than the usual cold technology demos.

This is your basic "boy meets girl loses girl" story with a whole lot of SPFX thrown in. I didn't get the blue eyes angle. Apparently this mutation shows up in human history 10,000 years ago, (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22934464/wid/11915773?GT1=10815) but I didn't get the connection.

Watchable (Fair) - The film is visually stunning, which is the only reason I'd recommend this film as watchable. Is this a good movie? No, not by any stretch of the imagination. It may be better for younger viewers. The problem with this film is the title - the events in the picture defy logic - it is not 10,000 BC; except if you include a smattering of mammoths, one sabre-tooth tiger, and a flock of prehistoric birds. Historically speaking, this film made no sense at all. Not being an expert in human life during the era which the film depicts, the humans looked too evolved technologically, in speach, and their ability to organize. During the pyramid buiding scenes, I kept looking for Moses but he doesn't come to be for another 8,000 years!!! It's the logic in the film that derails the story. The story in itself is basic in scope - beautiful girl gets captured and the hero must travel many moons to find and rescue her - how they get from one eco system to another is beyond me. Overall, good eye candy but park your brain at the door. Just wished I saw this one on Blu-Ray. Though I haven't seen it, OPL does offer "Journey to 10,000 BC (2008)", a documentary of that time - it may be more exciting and factual.
