From Library Staff

Chicagoland author Jonathan Eig draws on FBI files and newly discovered audio interviews from the 60s, among other sources, to inform this first major biography since Ali's death. The most superficial and shallow biography I have ever read. More like an anthropological examination of a creature based on its fossilized feces. This book is an expose' of all Ali's weaknesses, flaws, and shortcomings, with only a bare bones listing of his achievements, and lasting social and political impact. If you're interested in all the times your parents cheated and lied, fornicated and pooped, then this is a book for you.

Great book all around. This book covers Ali from his younger stages leading all the way up to his older stages. Provides very detailed stories and displays every boxing match in a way that keeps you on edge. This book highlights the joys everyone saw within Ali as well as some of his many flaws.

ali backed down from Elijah Muhammad: " Decades later, Ali would say that turning his back on Malcolm was one of the biggest regrets of his life. But at the time, he showed no remorse." Also has two members of the church denying involvement in the assassination of Malcolm X ( one claims it was the FBI). They admit they could have killed him, but 'the honorable Elijah Muhammad told us not to bother him, so we didn't bother him.' Other sources I have read (not the FBI) state unequivocally that Elijah said that Louis X should mastermind the elimination of Elijah's #1 critic (by far). Louis X= Louis Farrakhan
