I completely agree with the majority here. Terrible movie and not at all as advertised. Not one laughable moment in the entire movie.

There is nothing funny about this movie, in fact had I know it was a movie about dysfunctional people I would have passed. Why? Because movies like this have no freaking ending, they just end! I have enough dysfunction in my life, why would I want to waste my time watching it?

Is it thought provoking, sure but only enough to make you uncomfortable without ever really addressing the issues it raises. John Lithgow’s character is supposed to be Trump, the evil developer on his 3rd wife yada, yada. But just being uncomfortable doesn’t make a dark comedy. If she had gone through with her desire that would have perhaps lead towards a dark conclusion instead of the bleak ambiguity. This movie misses the mark on so many levels.

Professes to be a dark comedy yet the subject matter is no laughing matter. In trying to appeal to the masses, it misses the mark and ends up appealing to very few---for many reasons. Cultivate a soul, Hollywood.

The only sharply funny comedy about this is the feeling I got after it was over that i’d Been scammed, ripped off of 79 minutes of my life and I never saw it coming! What a waste of time this movie was. Shame on you John Lithgow

Salma Hayek gives an outstanding performance. The film is full of thought-provoking, uncomfortable moments. Worthwhile watching, IMO.

Not a comedy. Not funny. It would be tragic had it any depth. Another wasted 90 minutes. Insulting. Why are these people doing this to us? They must think us extremely stupid. Hayek totally wasted. Ashamed of her. Tragic.

Ridiculous movie - a total waste of time and DVD plastic - I finally pulled it out of my dvd player after 30 minutes of struggling to find some redemption for it.

They took several tried and true story line plots that could have been naturally developed and made powerful social awareness statements and instead made each one a ridiculous cartoon caricature of a messed up society. They over-played the 'snob' class - made them both irrationally pretentious yet disgustingly vulgar, they over-played the race/class tensions by making Beatriz unbelievably socially clueless and stupid yet at the same time tried to portray her as new-age sophisticate - They could have used the Drama Triangle/aka Karpman Triangle to develop a delicious victim/persecutor/rescuer drama - but instead they made all the characters hateable and repulsive.

Sooooo disappointing!

For a supposedly “sharply funny comedy” I did not laugh once. This is a dark and sad story, culminating in suicide. It left me with a sick feeling, sorry I wasted my time on it. Not one redeeming thing I can think of.
