Check it out. Based on a true story.
Informative and entertaining, without gruesome or violent scenes.

Fine dramatization of an historical event that changed the way law enforcement investigates ongoing and cold cases. Highly recommended.

I remember the first time DNA was used in case in the small city I lived in back in the late eighties. The man had kidnapped, raped and killed a girl he had been stalking. The DNA sealed his fate on death row. Really enjoyed this police show that gives the background on how DNA was discovered and then used in the legal system. First against deadbeat parents and, then criminals.does a good job of explaining the science without being dull. Excellent police show on a serial rapist/murderer. Amazing how the one policeman refused to give up. It took him years to prove his case, but he gave justice to their families.

The opening ten minutes are as strong as any police procedural I've seen, and the script, which is drawn from true events, develops well from there, as parallel stories are gradually brought together. Excellent acting by John Simm, David Threfall and a stellar ensemble cast. Don't miss it.

A well-done three-series movie about DNA fingerprinting for first time crime investigation.

Well-done show about the first use of DNA in criminal investigation by the police to convict a serial killer. There is some suspense, but understated acting by John Simm as Alec Jeffrey (later to be knighted, Sir Alec Jeffrey) and David Threlfall as lead investigator David Baker and a thoughtful script feel just right. It may feel a little long but today's standards, but hits all the right notes imho.

It was a very interesting series...goes to show you, you can make a good and an interesting show with out over the top gore and overt violence. A well written series that covers a piece of recent history seldom talked about. It takes place before internet, cell phones and a lot of things we now take for granted - just good old-fashioned detective work and dogged persistence .
