"Wolverine, Deadpool, Doctor Doom, Thanos: there's one hero that's beaten them all--and now she's got her own ongoing series. (Not that she's bragging.) That's right, you asked for it, you got it: it's Squirrel Girl. (She's also starting college this semester.) Opinion

From Library Staff

Doreen Green is Squirrel Girl: normal college freshman with the proportional speed and strength of a squirrel. While getting to know her roommate and navigating classes, she also saves the world from the bad guys. Like you do… when you’re Squirrel Girl.

Squirrel Girl is one of my favourite heroes ever. As the comic says, "she eats nuts and kicks butts!". If you're looking for an awesome new hero to read about, I highly recommend starting this series.

OK...cute and light, perhaps a welcome change to a genre that some think takes itself too seriously at times.

Squirrel Girl is everything good about the superhero genre.

Eating nuts and kicking butts! Goofy and fun, while still having exciting plots. And I love, love, love the author comments on the bottom of the pages!

5/5 stars. How could a comic book about a girl with the powers of a squirrel be bad? There are quite a lot of ways this book could have fallen flat, but instead it's quirky and fun. Highly recommend to just about anyone.

As someone who gets her kicks for the gritty dark graphic novels of the DC/Vertigo world, to say that an innocent themed Marvel comic charmed me to the core is the best compliment I can bestow. This comic is just plain fun. It's a light, happy read which is good break from the doom and gloom of my usual reads. Squirrel Girl isn't the hero we deserve but she's the hero we need right now.

Cute, funny superhero comic. Great for teens...I'd definitely recommend to fans of the new Ms Marvel.

Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is like a breath of fresh air! This comic manages to encapsulate so much personality and enthusiasm that I couldn't put it down. It is silly and earnest in ways that I just love.

I'm going to need a squirrel sidekick, stat!

When your particular super-power involves talking to Squirrels and having a unhealthy obsession with nuts, it can be hard to fit in with your everyday citizen. Doreen Green, aka Squirrel Girl, isn't going to let her superhero side stand in the way of an awesome start to college. With unassailable optimism and a furry sidekick, Doreen is definitely going to leave her mark on campus!
