Good Book! Very good plot, lots of twists and turns. 13+ Set in a post apocalyptic world two characters from very different lives struggle to save the world from impending doom. The government has released a deadly virus that if not stopped could kill us all. Just to make it worse Day and June are on the run from the government themselves and team up with a group of rebels called the patriots. But do the patriots have a secret plan and is the new governor really as bad as they say?

Putting aside the surprisingly negative reviews, Prodigy was a solid hit for Marie Lu, setting the stage for a great ending(I have not read the final book, but it has bad reviews). The expansion of the story, with more character and world development and shocking twists, create a more detailed picture of both the Republic, the Colonies, and the world as a whole. Overall, I give this book a 9/10 and a "Would Strongly Recommend Reading" review.

I really enjoyed 'Legend'. I really did. But 'Prodigy' has a bad bout of "sad sequel syndrome" and even if the story is exciting (what's not exciting about an assassination attempt??) it isn't quite amazing. It's wonderfully written, with some incredible twists that keep you on the edge of your seat, but June is one big rich brat until the halfway point, and Day can't see the truth until it's hitting him in the face. Annnnnnnnd… Wait for it…

LOVE TRIANGLE ALERT!!!!!!
No! Why?

And why is there a gay relationship between Metias and Thomas? Why? Why, I ask you, Lu, Why?

So, in conclusion, I absolutely recommend 'Legend' but not so much its mediocre sequel.

I refuse to believe that that is what the third book will progress from. This second book was so good! It definitely surpasses the expectation of a "sequel" in a trilogy, and the momentum built itself quite nicely. The drama (in relationships, problems) just escalated from panic to a frenzy, and the character development is just too good to be true. The political side of the book blends nicely with the conflict, unlike in other books where is it 100% revolution. I loved the ending but it was truly heartbreaking to read... caution! 5/5 stars

Middle books in trilogies are tricky, but I think I liked this even more than Legend. The evolution of June & Day's relationship is nicely done, and I like the continuing presence of social class as a source of tension between them. I also think Lu has selected a really interesting path for this series that really makes it stand out from other teen dystopias for me. This installment definitely cements this series' status as my favorite of the myriad Hunger Games readalikes.

This was an amazing book and a great sequel. It would've been hard for any other book to top Legend, but this book did just that. Amazing.
