Gender flipped and super queer, very creepy, retelling of Shakespeare's Macbeth.

In this retelling of Shakespeare's Macbeth, Maria and Lily plot against golden child Delilah at their exclusive boarding school, leading them down the path of madness.

A modern retelling of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, this book manages to be both disturbing and fun. Talley’s take on Macbeth as high school drama is both amusing and terrifying at once. The shifting perspective of the narrative gives the story an ominous and eerie vibe, and I appreciate that she did not shy away from including darker elements in a young adult book, including ghosts, mystery, and murder. Another highlight is the diverse cast of characters, and Talley is very creative in using their different identities to translate elements from the play into a modern context. Unfortunately, Maria (aka Macbeth) took on a considerably more passive role in this adaptation that in the original text, but overall I think Talley did a masterful job of reworking the story. 4 Stars. @amiwrite of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

there is nothing more that i love than a great Shakespeare retelling.

As I Descended is a retelling of Shakespeare's very famous 'Macbeth' that takes place in a very haunted boarding school in Virginia.

ghosts, mysteries, urban legends, and MURDER, this book was pretty hard to put down.

ALSO there was amazing GLBT and POC representation.

it was FANTASTIC.

if you love Shakespeare and if you love Macbeth, then definitely pick this up!
