Martha Doyle is delightfully cheeky and really makes this historical mystery shine! I'm a sucker for anything set in the roaring '20s and Fitzgerald does an excellent job of bringing it to life through Martha's eyes.

The roaring twenties form the backdrop of this art-themed mystery. Fans of Chasing Vermeer and its sequels will appreciate all the art themed clues as they piece together the solution.

A dramatic story about a curious girl and a house full of secrets in 1920's New York City. The author gives the reader an interesting look into the lives of the poor and the wealthy and the barriers that separate them. I appreciated that it was the heroines spunk and courage to think for herself that propels the story forward and that she uncovers the truth about the house and those who live in it through an observant eye, the desire to think for herself and lack of fear in asking hard questions. It would be worth having an art book on hand when reading this book as the art work displayed in the gallery are real pieces and their exploration is key to uncovering the truth about the house and its inhabitants.

Historical fiction novel set in the 1920's. This would be a great book for a young advanced reader. It is a clean read, yet challenging and engaging.
