When Doris Miller meets John Fremont sparks fly-at least for Doris. In the cluttered house she shared with her late mother. When Doris begins showing up at John's regular haunts, she wins over his Williamsburg friends. Her new life brings Doris a thrilling perspective, but also creates a rift between her and her longtime friends and family, who believe she's making a fool of herself over a guy half her age.
"A winning comedy-drama built around one of cinema's most endearing leading ladies."--Newsday.
"Field proves more than capable of delivering Showalter-level goofiness while giving the film its heart."--Entertainment Weekly.
"A brave little film that shows it's never too late to come of age."--Los Angeles Times.

#TBT: Happy Birthday, Sally Field!

For this Throwback Thursday, we celebrate the one and only Sally Field, who turns 70 on Sunday. This Scorpio first captured hearts in popular sitcoms Gidget and The Flying Nun. I, however, had the joy of being introduced to her on the big screen with Murphy's Romance and later Steel Magnolias. #TBT: Happy Birthday, Sally Field!

For this #TBT, we celebrate the one and only Sally Field who turns 70 this year on November 6th. This Scorpio captured the hearts of many as she began her career in television with popular sitcoms like "Gidget" and "The Flying Nun." I, however, had the joy of being introduced to her when she hit the big screen with Murphy's Romance, Punchline (with my other favorite, Tom Hanks), and of course… (more)

Saw this in the theaters when it came out and loved it! This indie film has a lot of heart and I'd be happy to watch it again and again.

This will be added to one of my all time favorites. Great cast and Sally Fields is fabulous. This is a real sleeper...slipped out of the theaters very fast and so glad I caught it on DVD.

This romantic/drama is about an older woman who is trying to get the attention of a younger man at her office. While watching this movie, I kind of felt like some scenes were significantly cringier than they needed to be, with Doris Miller (played by Sally Field) making a fool out of herself to get the attention of John Fremont (played by Max Greenfield). I will admit, I did find it interesting seeing things in a new perspective since typically men are older than their romantic counterparts in films and real-life. The movie was no masterpiece and was hard to watch at times, but I would still rate it 3/5 stars.

Enjoyable movie. Sally Field is perfect as Doris. Very well acted, funny and sad movie about an aging woman who has lived with and taken care of her mother until mother passed away.
