David Gremp Photographs, 1978-1979Mixed Material
The sixty photographs in this collection were created during David Gremp's tenure as an artist-in-residence for the 1978-1979 CETA/Neighborhood Arts Program in Chicago. For this project, Gremp was assigned to the Chicago Public Library where he documented library branches and their surrounding neighborhoods. The photographs depict ordinary Chicagoans, small businesses, and houses in the following neighborhoods: Austin, Chatham, Chinatown, Garfield Park, Hyde Park, Lincoln Park, Lincoln Square, Little Village, Lower Westside, Pullman, Scottsdale, Uptown, and Washington Heights.
