Not familiar with any of her other work, just picked this up on a whim. A really honest and touching examination of a young, rural, poor life and the powers/events/people/randomness that had a particular influence on it. The occasional musings on memory, patriarchy, friendship, loneliness, self-discovery, family, and 'the real' in particular, are very compelling and worth the read alone.
