When the kind Himari arrives at Momochi house, a large mansion which she inherited from the parents she didn't know, she finds three squatters already living there. Turns out these are normal people though, two are shikigami, and one is a boy tasked with guarding the border between the spirit and human realms. This, and the fact that the place is haunted by spirits, doesn't scare off Himari though. In fact she's determined to stay, and have them pay her for rent. Aside from this though, the heroine is actually a pretty weak link, at least as of the first volume. She is your typical damsel in distress, and although well-intentioned, she often ends up in situations that cause more problems for the mysterious, but immature Aoi, who actually transforms into the handsome, stronger demon Nue. This of course creates some good romantic tension between the two, but the characters need to grow a lot to make this truly good romance series. The art does have its strong points, as can be seen by the cover, so at the very least, it is worth reading for this. The mystery of Momochi house, Aoi's place in it, and why Himari inherited it, are also intriguing.
