I assume this is the first in the Hutch series. I had read a later book in the series and wanted to get back to the origins. Found this book to be a bit slow to develop and surprisingly weak on descriptions of the actual space ships, what pilots actually do, how they interface with the AI and other such stuff that would put a little SCI into the SCI-FI. The description of the actual faster than light drive is non-existent we just have to take it as a given sort of like Star Trek where the warp drive is a given. The ability to move anything faster than light would imply a completely new physics-goodbye Mr. Newton/Einstein hello Mr. ? Asimov and Heinlein are still safe.

Great novel, dark, brooding, and funny at some points.

A prequel to the McDevitt's Hutchins series, so you don't need to have read the other books to follow along. Have to admit, it's not Jack's strongest novel, but it is a fun read, so if you are into SF, this should be enjoyable.

Where to begin? The main person in this book is priscilla and she is not even the most interisting its jack. This book has great ideas but he doesn't even finish telling the stories non of them, Now for Hutch wow its like author had no idea what to do with her. I'm sorry i give it 2 stars boo jack boo.
