It started off funny and interesting but in part two the story seemed to have fallen apart and it seemed like there was a lot of random stuff. I do have to admit I was falling asleep watching the second part so that probably didn't help!

Candide meets Harry Potter meets Dr Who meets Monty Python ... and some terrible puns!

My 9 year old tried to watch this twice, she just couldn't get into it.

I really love the Discworld books, but I couldn't watch much of this movie.

It seemed dumbed down (for kids?) even though the books are hilarious often-adult comedy. There was also some typical book-to-movie plot and character mangling.

Go read the books, they are fun and funny!

The English and the canadians have a different kind of humor and you may not get all the jokes but the books are amazing and there are loads you should defanately read them !!!

I just didn't get the humor. Nothing appealed to me.

expected a horribly bad, hilariously enjoyable fantasy. maybe the fact that it was a satire ruined the effect - turns out when something pathetic tries to be wry it kills the mood and ends up being just plain sad. or maybe we just weren't up to it.

Considering how this was probably a made-for-TV miniseries, the acting, cinematography, and music were all up there with proper fantasy movies. Even the CG was really good, like when the troll comes to life and baby discworlds are born. The plot was entertaining and suspenseful, but I wish there had been closed captions on the disc so I could have made out all they were saying.
While I hadn't read more than an excerpt or two of the Discworld books before, if this is a good sample of the stories in them, I will want to check out the books in the future.

My young teen boys and I enjoyed this 2 part story. There are many references that are not obvious. The story does drag a little at times.

I did not like this movie the dry humor of the books was inane and boring in a movie it was also so long that I was bored half way through the first half. Although it was a good representation of discworld leave this one on the shelf.
