DK cookbooks are the best cookbooks. This thing is huge and it is full of great recipes that are broken down into easy steps. None of that "combine pre-made pastry crust with pre-made pie filling", either. It also gives a bunch of meal ideas for different occasions as well as basic how-to's for roasts, etc.
