This is a beautiful folk album full of gorgeous harmonies and story-filled lyrics. James Taylor is a master of his craft. Highly recommended.
I was not particularly impressed by Taylor's "Before this World" album the first time through. Each time after I listened to it, I thought it sounded better and better.
James Taylor has mellowed and perfected his sound over time, and, once the songs become more familiar, made me really appreciate this effort. His melding of vocal efforts with his superb backup singers of many years made this most enjoyable.
Sadly, I was a bit disappointed with this album. It lacked the sparkle of his earlier work. I do not mean that this effort is not good - it just has no oomph to it.
