Childhood sweethearts Alan and Celia, both widowed and in their 70s, fall for each other all over again when they are reunited on the internet after nearly 60 years. Their relationship is a celebratory tale of the power of love at any age. But this is also a story about family, and with family comes baggage. Celia's respectable, head teacher daughter Caroline is juggling bringing up two boys and dealing with her husband's infidelity, while Alan's daughter Gillian works to make a living on her farm.

I have just started watching this - great acting and writing, good, complex characters. Boil the kettle and get stuck in for some quality British TV!

A multi-generational family drama with a touch of humor. Great series with great acting.

What a terrific tearjerker! Outstanding, funny writing by Sally Wainwright plus fine acting by all the principals, with the added treat of Yorkshire dialect. Bottom line: this is 'Coronation Street' for adullts, and it's more addictive than Swiss chocolate!

Super enjoyable show about seniors finding love again and having to deal with their adult kids -- the messes that everyone's life decisions get/got them into and how family members, friends and work are affected. Take out Season 2 from EPL too. Waiting for Season 3's DVD to get released and Season 4 has been approved to go into production.

waited a long time to see this and only lasted 15 minutes into it because of the same sex relationship that was in it.

One word, EXCELLENT! BBC never fails to entertain. I love everything they put out. This show really touched my heart and drew me into it and makes you realize how as humans how vulnerable we are to our feelings. American television and movies can never excel in the way that these do as here programming fails, it's so full of nothing more than trash...trash tv.

Bit of a slow start may put some people off, but this little chugger picks up speed and turns into a winning romantic screwball comedy. The plot is complicated and veers toward another feel-good movie, but the performances save it from becoming melodrama. Excellent cast, with elderly duo Derek Jacobi and Anne Reid proving that old people are still capable of falling as deeply in love as the young. My only complaint was the too neatly wrapped up ending, in which 2 people who are poles apart on basic issues suddenly resolve their differences. It was just too pat and not entirely believable. I am looking forward to the second season though.
