I wasn't sure if Built to Spill (BTS) were still around and recording/performing, but saw this in the SPL catalog and had to listen to it. I saw them live very often and this album is pretty much like their others, having quite a bit of wanking guitar. The last song on the album "When I'm Blind" is a real wanker! BTS are from Boise, ID, and this album was recorded in Portland, OR at Jackpot! studios. Apparently, Doug Martsch, singer, songwriter, lead guitar (and leader wanker) likes to mix up the band line-up. Was wondering if Brett Netson was on this album (no, he is not) - he often appeared on previous albums and often played with them live (he is also from Boise and has (had?) a band called Caustic Resin). My former co-worker's husband used to play drums for BTS. He is not on this album either. The album was co-produced by Sam Coomes, he lives in Portland and plays in a band called Quasi. He plays keyboards on this album, but I will have to listen to the album again to hear any keyboards! Overall, BTS is classic Northwest rock!
