I was entranced by this first publishing of author/illustrator JiHyeon Lee. This picture book conveyed the thoughts, emotions, and feel of crowds (their impersonal nature and crowded mass) and the yearning of individuals for connection and yet striving for individual thought and creativity. This is a book that young people can enjoy for its story at any level and it's beauty and creative imagery. You really feel the excitement of underwater exploration in this pool and the joy of the two solitary exploring children.
Reading this gem by JiHyeon Lee is like diving into a cold blue swimming pool. Delicate pencil work brings this treasure to life. An excellent example of illustration that is quiet and limited in color yet makes a unique splash all its own.
Wordless book about making a new friend. JiHyeon Lee's magical artwork make this a book for all ages.
A delicately illustrated and imaginative book about two kids who are a bit dismayed by the raucous crowd at the pool, but find a way to enjoy it anyway.
A perfect title for young introverts-at-heart.
