A grid of glass bricks is lifted and hoisted into place on the north tower of Crown Fountain. LED panels are already in place on the tower and a gap shows where the "gargoyle" nozzle will be fitted. The stainless steel grid was fabricated by Circle Redmont, Inc., of Melbourne, Florida, to hold the glass bricks in place. Each grid is 5 feet tall and either 23 or 13 feet long, depending on what side of the tower it goes on. The grids are hoisted into place by cranes and then are welded together. When fully assembled the steel grids are virtually invisible behind the glass bricks, achieving artist Jaume Plensa's vision of a wall of glass, but with the strength and stability required for safety.
