'Father Brown' has made it British television in two series. Kenneth More starred in the original series in 1974. More was an established star of the big screen until he apparently ran his critical mouth of more influential people than himself. But I liked his performances. The current Father Brown series stars Mark Williams. He has no pizzazz at all. But we want to fill up our lives and are apparently willing to watch so-so programming. Most interesting is Father Brown is a Catholic in a country that rejected Catholicism centuries ago because the Catholic Church wouldn't grant a divorce for an English king's desire for a woman other than his wife. As for the mysteries themselves, the police come across as stupid.

This is an ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL series. Each mystery is solved within the 45 minute episode. The writers of this series has developed a character and supporting characters that really work together well. It is funny and heartwarming. Fr. Brown not only is solving the case but assisting the victims and criminals to find peace through God. These are really talented writers that wrote a first class character. I also like it because it's a relatively clean show. I'm so glad that I found this series and am excited to watch season 1 and 3. I hope to get the chance to watch all 10 episodes of season 2 before I have to return them to the library.
