This book offers so much to get you thinking. It is inspiring and uplifting. It creates opportunities for you to see life differently which in turn leads you to experience life differently. While there is something in it for everyone, I would recommend it to all women to read, as Oprah is directly targeting women with the advice she offers and stories she shares.

We're not so lucky all the time , so sometimes we need some one that remind us that the bad things happens to everybody, we are fighters and we are winners, so after reading story by story , you will see how your heart is filling of love and hope. This is the usual book , that you need to have in a tough moment in your life and keep it close.

I had mixed feelings overall. I felt some moments of "she bragging about her wealth" (having all of her friends fly to Maui to celebrate her birthday, and considering flying out a musician to honor her was a little too much) as well as moments when I felt there was little beneath some of her statements, that her words did not have enough meaning to to support her exclamations. But I also had some aha moments. When she talks about her personal story more (such as her beginnings, the abuse she faced, and how she's struggled with weight and where she is now) this has more meaning for me. It also made me want to read some of the authors she quoted or talked about, Eckhart Tolle for instance.

Needed a filler read and this was a good one to fit that bill! In the entire book there were really only a handful I found really enlightening. But I was thrilled that the one I remember reading back when it was first published was in here and I would like to share it because it is such a profound and powerful message:
"Marianne Williamson once said that our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. The truth is that the naysayers in your life—those who seek to pull you down every time you exceed their expectations for you—can never be fully satisfied. Whether you hide or shine, they'll always feel threatened because they don't believe they are enough. Every time you suppress some part of yourself or allow others to play you small, you are in essence ignoring the owner's manual your creator gave you and destroying your design. What I know for sure is this: You are built not to shrink down to less, but to blossom into more. To be more splendid. To be more extraordinary. To use every moment to fill yourself up."

Okay, I'll admit it – I like Oprah. While I don't agree with everything she says, I admire the way she provides inspiration for so many. This book is filled with important reminders that our best is usually more than adequate and we all need to stop being our own worst enemies. Oprah reminds us of the importance of giving and accepting grace and of embracing an attitude of gratitude.

Great Read! I never understood the hype when it came to Oprah Winfrey.

I understood she was a talk show host that had the best intentions for others.
After reading this book I fell in love with Oprah.
I truly understand why Oprah is such a great role-model.
Personally, I have learned a lot more about life itself after reading this book.
I have even decided to buy a copy to add to my personal bookshelf.

I couldn't get through quite all of this, and now I'm writing about it I find I really don't remember much of it...? A bit too simplistic and at the same time self-aggrandizing, as I recall.

I live in the space of thankfulness — and for that, I have been rewarded a million times over. I started out giving thanks for small things, and the more thankful I became, the more my bounty increased. That’s because — for sure — what you focus on expands. When you focus on the goodness in life, you create more of it.

Being grateful all the time isn’t easy. But it’s when you least feel thankful that you are most in need of what gratitude can give you: perspective. Gratitude can transform any situation. It alters your vibration, moving you from negative energy to positive. It’s the quickest, easiest most powerful way to effect change in your life — this I know for sure.
