This is an amazing book; I highly recommend it. When Nancy Rue and Rebecca St. James were first considering writing this book, Mrs. Rue asked on her Teen Blog if anyone who had gone through the struggle of self-harm (who had stopped) would email her if they were willing to share their stories (for book writing and research purposes). I did so, when I was 13. Little did I know that three years later, reading that book would help me so much when I relapsed. I could relate with Kirsten so much, and the book showed me things about the healing process that were instrumental to my own process. Reading this book gave me hope and was the start of my journey of becoming clean. And I have been clean now, for almost 11 months. Therefore, I definitely recommend this book, especially to those who struggle with this. You CAN overcome it. Kirsten and I did.

This is a story about how a young girl in a lot of pain healed herself by diving into that pain and by facing the truth. The physical scars referred to at the very beginning and end of the book could be symbolic for the unseen but felt emotional scars that many of us carry - some more so than others.

Excellent read for young women who are cutting to relieve stress, and those seeking to understand them. The power of community, and the fact that every character has challenges, puts the focus on giving, rather than receiving.

Written by one of my favourite Christian recording artists. This book doesn't shy away from tackling a tough topic, and shows that even the people who seem to have it all together have issues of their own to deal with.
