Add a CommentThere are numerous large size images of his works (though still small compared to their actual size, one and half metres, which is thankfully given in the book), and the account of his personal life is free of scurrility though mentions the necessary important facts (one of his lovers killed themselves in their apartment) especially if they were pertinent to his work. There is some mention of the critical responses to the works, but never gets bogged down in criticism, rather, the book is generally patient and inviting with the reader and lets them think for themselves. The text is relatively short, but its concise, and best of all includes in the margins a note to the work which is referred to in the text, so that the reader can easily flip to it and flip back. The books in this series are well designed. Lots of useful back matter (chronology, index, bibliography).
