At a celebration of Priscilla Halburton-Smythe's engagement, one guest in particular misbehaved. Boorish Captain Peter Bartlett managed to offend everyone--one person enough to kill him.
If your have finished book one of the Hamish Macbeth series and you are ready to start reading book two, you are about to become addicted to Hamish Macbeth (or at least the series surrounding him). Here is a link you are going to want. http://www.dsl.ac.uk/ (unless you already know that "wichty" means "you've shocked me" as in "you've metaphorically punched me in the gut and knocked the wind right out of me," or that sonsie means good luck, or that "come ben" isn't bad pronunciation, it means come in to the best room of the house).
I am binge reading the series so that I can start from the beginning are read it again. I hope you will fall in love with the series, too.
My first book by M. C. Beaton.
Looking forward to reading the rest of the Hamish Macbeth series.

#2 Hamish Macbeth series. Enjoyed this much more then Death of a Bore, which I read first thinking that it was the first in the series. I think that the main character, Hamish Macbeth, will be easier to understand if I read the series in order. A quick easy read with a dash of humor.
