The story follows a young noble boy named Oz Vessalius. He lives a luxurious life along with his little sister Ada and his servant and best friend Gilbert. One day on his coming of age ceremony, a group of people called the Baskervilles started attacking Oz and dragging him into a supernatural prison called Abyss. The Abyss is a different world where all different kinds of "chains" live. Chains are supernatural monsters who make a contract with humans. Oz finds a chain girl named Alice. Oz makes a contract with Alice and both escape the Abyss to come back to the real world. After they are back, almost everything has changed and a lot of time had passed. Oz has to find out the truth about the Abyss and Baskervilles.
The characters in this story are great. There is so much character development in this anime. The main protagonists character, Oz, develops a great deal from episode 1 to the final. Other characters, like Break, are my favourite because of how his character develops and how intelligent he is. Some characters are introduced as villains, but then they become good and become friends with the main protagonist as time passes in the series. The story is very mysterious and hard to follow at times, as well as very emotional. The action scenes are great and the music and songs are my favourite part of this anime show. In the show, many things are explored and many things remain unknown and there is no specific ending. So I highly recommend reading the manga book. This will give you more understanding of the details and there is a specific ending. This is only a review of the anime. I loved this anime show, the characters as well as the music.

I have just finished reading this series. I found the beginning confusing, and I believe that it was because the author was originally trying to steer the story in another direction, more akin to Tsubasa (by clamp, not the soccer manga). However, after about the 5th volume, things started to solidify and became coherent. Naturally, as with all re-inventions of Alice in Wonderland, there was a lot of fantastical beings and things that did not entirely make sense and that were not explained, such as where chains came from (the Abyss, but what made them?). The end of the series ends in three gradually larger volumes as each the 23 was supposed to be the last, but was not and the 24th was more than a double volume, as there was much to wrap up. Some things about wrapping up the story did not make full sense, but it was concise and did not leave the reader with more questions than answers. Overall, I enjoyed the series after getting past the first 5 volumes. The character development was well done, though as mentioned earlier, at some points, you can see where the plot was set to go in different directions, but was altered, and so some things the characters say and do are slightly off for a brief period of time. In all the re-inventions of Alice in Wonderland that I have read, this is the best manga series.

I liked this manga.
Not always sure what was happening, but I hope that will be explained through the series.

This volume made me smile, I loved how Oz asked Ada to hold his hand but then he remembered that Ada is older than him. Lol that was epic.

This is one of my favourite volumes in the manga. It's so sad!

I really love how Pandora Hearts is so dark, sad, and bloody in some points and at the same time, some humor in it too! XD Pandora Hearts is epic!

This is great! In my opinion, Pandora Hearts deserves more readers and attention.

*WARNING: DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT READ VOLUME ONE AND MAYBE TWO, IT CONTAINS SPOILERS* Pandora is an organization that moniters the Abyss, a realm of darkness and chaos, and anything to do with it, including chains, beings born in the Abyss. Fifteen-year-old Oz Vessalius was dropped into the Abyss after being accused of a sin he knows nothing of, and managed to escape only after entering a "contract" with the humanoid chain Alice, who escaped from the Abyss to look for her lost memories. After retreiving Gil's hat and being reunited with Uncle Oscar, violet-eyed chain Alice and Pandora's carefree Xerxes Break suddenly go missing. Oz and his servant Gilbert, with help from Break's companion Pandora's Sharon, must enter a dimension dominated by a "special" chain called the Cheshire Cat, who is the one who kidnapped Alice and Break in order to find them. But there are still questions - who exactly is Jack Vessalius? What do the Baskervilles, Pandora's enemies, want exactly with Oz? And why did Alice loose her memories in the first place?
