Great story. Denny O'neil is well known for the amazing anti-drug story in Green Lantern/Green Arrow. And now he writes another one, this time featuring Batman. Its not quite as preachy as the other one, but still very gripping with tons of cool action sequences.

Note: the review below says that Bane appears in this book, he does not. Although this story introduces the drug that Bane uses to fuel his strength.

Batman fights not only his worst and most menacing menace Bane in this great title...but also a drug addiction!

In BATMAN: VENOM several great artists come together to create a story that will be remembered as one of the best. It also shows how LEGENDS can serve as a monthly stand alone title to featurre well-done and daring storires. Dennis O'Neil returns to his bread and butter theme of social realism but suped-up to tell what must have been the caped crusader's darkest hour till then. But each contributor displays deft technique to make this story work altogether and seemlessly. Seldom do you see layouts get its own credit but here each panel carefully paces the story and heightens its drama. It all works well with pencils to render a story that is truly and beautifully told in the faces of its characters. Colors are well done but in a Batman story inks will always be of greater concern. Even when events occur in daylight there's enough shadow and darkness to remind whose book this is. You'll enjoy this book. Be sure to pass it along.
