When Aimee's long-term partner and best friend Rene leaves their detective agency for a new job in Silicon Valley, Aimee knows she can handle the extra workload. At least, that's what she tells herself. But all bets are off when Yuri Volodya, a mysterious old Russian man, hires Aimee to protect a painting. By the time she gets to his Montparnasse atelier, the precious painting has already been stolen, leaving Aime smelling a rat. The next day, Yuri is found tortured to death in his kitchen. To top it all off, it looks like Aimee isn't the only one looking for the painting.

(Book 13 in the Aimee Leduc series)

If you want a murder mystery set in Paris this is the book for you. However, it's not a beach read. The plot is complex and the characters are as well. A good, solid well-written book.

Cara Black's new mystery is a great read. Anyone planning to visit Paris should be reading her books.

A little tighter editing would've helped but Paris is wonderfully evoked and the plot and sub-plot are skillfully developed. Not her best.

This latest book in the Aimee Leduc series offers a glimpse into the art world and underbelly of money laundering. Nothing is what it seems and readers almost feel Aimee's anguish and desperation as she rushes to find a missing Modigliani and hopefully reconnect with her mother, who disappeared from her family when Aimee was a child.
I recommend this for anyone who loves Paris and who wants to peek "off the beaten track" in the city of lights!
Loved it!
