Edward Hopper's Hotel Lobby

Paperback - 2008
Rate this:
This monograph discusses the relationship between Edward Hopper¿s sketches for his 1943 painting Hotel Lobby and the finished work. It examines and analyzes both the composition and subject matter in the light of Hopper¿s goal of expressing himself through his art. It also addresses the possibility that the artist¿s choice of subject reflects the conflicts that existed in his personal life. This is the first book devoted entirely to a comparison of Hopper¿s sketches with his finished canvases and should add to the understanding of his working methods.
