Born in Manchester, England on the wrong side of the tracks, Norman Foster rose from a humble working class background to become one of the premiere architects of modern times. Beautifully filmed in over ten countries and homing in on his most iconic works, including London's Swiss Re Tower, New York's Hearst Building, Berlin's Reichstag, and more, it's an unprecedented exploration of an architect whose quest is to improve the quality of life through design.

A well made advertisement for Foster + Partners, masquerading as a documentary about Foster's designs and career. Most disappointed to see that only now is Foster discovering the connection between ecology and human habitations... and considering it his own discovery. Is Soleri that obscure?

The breadth of projects from a cable-stayed bridge to a mammoth airport illustrate the scope of architecture and project management accomplished by Norman Foster. Foster leads an interesting life outside his profession as a private pilot, cyclist and 'loppet' cross-country skier although this documentary reveals little of his personal life. His ability to "sketch" is a valued skill that is shown repeatedly in this well-done documentary.
