Wow! What a great story. Aector McAvoy has joined James Lee Burke's Robicheaux as my two favorite detectives. McAvoy is not a rich playboy with martial arts skills. He has self-doubts about his place among his colleagues. Yet he is moved by his sense of true north as he faces a series of suspicious and bewildering deaths. The writing is outstanding as the story unfolds to an exciting conclusion. I also liked how deeply in love he is with his wife. Pharao, his female boss, is an interesting character.
