From Library Staff

Interesting and conveys a meaningful message. My daughter enjoyed it.

This book was cute and well-illustrated, and would likely work well in a storytime. Nothing spectacular though.

Owl and Rabbit learn the hard way how important friendship is. Beautiful illustrations perfectly express their division, and eventual compromise.

Rabbit and Owl are next-door neighbours who live at the top of a hill. They get along swimmingly until Rabbit's garden grows so tall that it blocks Owl's view of the forest. Then Owl adds height to his dwelling, and a competition that threatens their friendship rapidly ensues. Each builds a taller and taller house until both reach so high into the sky that strong winds blow down the structures - and their occupants. The illustrations, full of "sun-baked colour, lots of movement, and wide Southwestern vistas" (Publishers Weekly), are charmingly quirky and detailed, and the story has a folkloric feel - as well as a satisfying ending that features a compromise and the restoration of the pair's close bond.

Brand new story that reads like an updated classic Aesop's Fable. We loved it!
