This is a dynamic tale of intrigue and personal choice that takes place in a Central Asia described with sweeping grandeur. Mr Mayland writes rather elegantly (with rather a feminine stylistic touch: all lush descriptive beauty and stylistic grandeur). He also presents a picture of the players or stakeholders in Iranian government, politics and economics- all a transnational phenomenon because of the importance of Caspian Sea oil wealth. In this story China plays its part in the great oil game.
