I agree re: ending - was the author in a hurry to start his next book (not a Margaret Truman one, I hope)?

I really disliked this book. The ending is very unsatisfying and you get the feeling that the author was pushing his own, fairly obvious, agenda.

"Experiment in Murder" which was NOT written by Margaret Truman, borrows heavily from "The Manchurian Candidate" by Richard Condon and "Advise and Consent" by Allen Drury, both of whom are much better writers than Donald Bain.
