Tatsuo also aims to become a marathon runner, so the two are in rivalry. But war breaks out and they both are forced to enlist in the army. Tatsuo becomes the head of defense in Jun Shik's unit and he devises a scheme but fails. Jun Shik and Tatsuo are captured by the Soviets. They run away but soon are captured by Germans and forced to separate. In 1944, they meet again at the shores of Normandy.

There are so many stories needs to discover and disclose like this movie, even thought it may be editing or modifying by the writer or director, but it is still deserve to know these parts of history which miss in the war.

Good movie. Reminded me of War Horse, but with people. Worth watching. The nuance to this movie was the German side of the D Day invasion and the untold story of soldiers of different races fighting for the third Reich which nullifies the illusion of racial superiority pushed by the so-called Fuhrer.

This is my favorite anti-war film after Gallipoli and The Thin Red Line.

A surprising story about a Korean and a Japanese who became running buddies before WWII, then serve together in Manchuria where they are captured by Soviets. They're sent to prison camp, then they are recaptured by Germans and sent west to fight the Allies in France. Strange, strange tale.

This movie has several graphic battle sequences that have an authentic historical foundation to them. Loosely based on a true story, it does go over the Patriotic and Nationalistic top in some parts. (Not unlike some other Korean made films in this genre). Still, I found this to be a good and original War movie.

Stunnng epic war film with amazing and brutal (and CGI) combat on three widely diverging fronts during WW2. ...and the humanly interesting characters trying to survive everything. Worth the wait.

Good - My Way (2011) 137 min. [Foreign - Korean] This movie should be marketed as a prequel to Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan and this Korean film finds its way to telling the story of the invasion of Normandy. What sets this film as a comparative and supplementary piece to Saving Private Ryan is its use of extreme violence on the battle field. The editing of the film especially in the first half could’ve been tighter and as such make this a must see film. However, the film is powerful with great performances and a highly interesting plot to keep the viewer “entertained”.

One of the best films I have seen in this year. It was entertaining and interesting. Great performances a must see for all. “Truly a really great movie worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box”.
