The movie was gripping, based on the Vel d'Hiv round up of Jews that took place in Paris in July 1942. The acting was superb. I only gave it 4 stars out of 5 as some of the scenes jumped abruptly which led to some confusion. The film was disturbing, but a necessary reminder so history does not repeat itself.

This is an excellent film! Based on the comments below, they must have cleaned up the subtitles for the blu ray version. I had no problems with the subtitles, and much of the film is in English. The cast was superb, the direction excellent, the script was solid. I've read a lot of real life accounts of WW2 and the Holocaust. And much on Vichy France and the atrocity of the Velodrome. This might be fiction but it could easily pass for truth. Beautiful, heartbreaking, and timely movie. I hope we will learn from our past as humans, and stop repeating it.

Heart breaking story taking place in Vichy's 1942 deportation of Jews; child wisdom and adult guilt causing further tragedy. Some hard to believe scenes, but all in all a well done movie.

Heart wrenching and hard to watch movie.
The hardest place to escape is from oneself. Some people can't simply continue.
Didn't know about the shameful episode of Vel' d'Hiv's roundups.
Wonderful K. Scott in English and French.

Any film with a holocaust theme is always hard to watch. This one is no exception. As a film, the editing can be much improved. Scenes jumping back and forth in time are often confusing. A good story, though.

OK movie with pretty good acting. Reaffirms that the French Vichy government and gendarmes - not just the Nazis - were responsible for shipping thousands of Jews to their deaths including children. The scene switches back and forth from present to 1942, and it doesn't quite work for me. Also, whoever did the English subtitles wasn't an English speaker.

A decent movie but the English subtitles are a disaster. Some of them didn't even make sense and were understandable only because I understand enough french to figure out what they were actually saying.

I was expecting a Hallmark TV type movie - but this was so much more! Excellent story, well acted, deep plot lines, and WWII history in France that was new to me. Highly recommend this film to anyone.

Other: There is a scene of Sarah and Rachel in a lake enjoying the water. you see that Rachel and Sarah are topless. But they are wearing their underwear so I would not really consider this as nudity.
