Quite good, if not a little slow moving. i was expecting more action but really it's about the personal difficulties of two very different people.

This book was way, way too long (over 600 pages). It's like it never got edited. Spike Lee filmed it in 1995 and Price co-wrote the screenplay. If it was released today, a white writer doing black characters and slang might be found problematic.

The basis of so much 'urban' literature. A great study of two men, though it has flaws (characters that just drop out and never return). I wanted to keep reading about these people's lives long after the book finished.
